Auctioneer

Add ons exist in the game to help you handle certain tasks. Most add ons are legal in the game and one such add on is called Auctioneer from http://auctioneeraddon.com. This handy tool will not only make it easier to post and handle your auctions, but when you use this add on you can then search for items on the Auction House that will actually help you to make more money.

In the auction house you will click "Scan" on the Auctioneer and it will begin to go through everything on the auction house. This will take a little while, now would be a good time to work on some spousal reputation by doing a load of laundry or perhaps some dusting. If you don't have a spouse, then perhaps you can step outside and spend a few moments with the sun.

Ok, once that scan is done you can now search for items on the auction house that people are attempting to offload quickly and attempt to undercut by a large amount. You can then purchase these items at the reduced rates and then go back and relist them to make a much larger profit. Using the Auctioneer I spent four hours in the auction house and bought and relisted and researched and brought in 200 gold in the first 24 hours I had the items listed. After 48 hours when I re listed the items that did not sell the first time around, I made an additional 75 gold.

This add on will also allow you to see the value of an item based on the most recent scan you have done, while you are out in the wilds hunting. It will tell you what the item is going for on the Auction House, what the normal vendor will pay for it and if you can disenchant it, it will tell you what you are likely to get off of it. So you can see quickly the value of an item and decide which way is the best to sell it.

From the same group that gives you Auctioneer, they have another add on called Gatherer. This add on will mark on your maps in game the locations of herbs, mining nodes and treasure chests through the game. Not only is your main map marked, but your mini map is marked as well. Using gatherer, I will enter a zone and I will make a beeline straight to the first marker on my maps to see if there is a spawn of herbs. I will then play a giant connect the dots and roam the entire zone going to the exact same places I have gone before for those herbs.

Reports can then be generated that will show you the largest percentages of those items and in what zone they reside in. I will use gatherer to hunt down Dreamfoil which sells for 1 gold a piece and with the chance that the node will give up 3 Dreamfoils, that is an instant 3 gold on the Auction House.
